Location, Check-in and Fair Play

You control when Ghumify uses location

Ghumify uses precise location only for features that require it, such as:

• Nearby
• current check-ins
• live-location sharing

You may decline location permission. Features requiring location may not function without it.

Nearby

Nearby may use your current position to identify destinations around you.

Nearby location is transient and is not intended to create a permanent location history.

Check-ins

A current Ghumify check-in may collect one location sample containing:

• latitude
• longitude
• accuracy
• altitude where available
• time
• speed where available
• heading where available

The sample is used to verify an eligible current visit.

Historical travel claims do not receive competitive Ghumify verification credit in V1.

Public privacy of check-ins

Completing a check-in does not automatically publish the destination to other users.

Your ordinary private check-in history is not publicly displayed merely because you received XP.

At the end of a period such as a month, Ghumify may generate an aggregate result such as “You checked in at 12 places this month.”

You may voluntarily share an aggregate card or story. That does not publish the underlying location list unless a separate feature expressly allows it and you choose to do so.

Raw location retention

Raw ordinary GPS samples are normally retained for no more than 30 days.

After raw coordinates expire, Ghumify may retain the associated verified-result or reward record while the account remains active.

Security and fair-play signals

To protect the integrity of Ghumify, we may evaluate:

• GPS accuracy
• altitude
• timestamps
• speed and heading
• impossible-travel calculations
• approximate IP location and IP anomalies
• repeated check-ins
• unusual account patterns
• emulator indicators
• mock-location indicators
• root or jailbreak indicators
• approved platform-integrity signals

No permanent device fingerprint

Ghumify does not intentionally create a derived permanent device fingerprint for the purpose of uniquely identifying a device after account deletion.

No single signal proves cheating

A weak GPS signal, rooted device, unusual IP address or other individual signal is not automatically treated as proof of cheating.

Signals are considered in context.

Automation

Automated systems may identify or hold suspicious activity.

Automation does not independently impose a permanent ban. Serious sanctions receive human review.

Additional verification

If a check-in requires further verification, Ghumify may display “This check-in needs additional verification.”

We avoid labeling a user as fraudulent merely because automated checks identified uncertainty.

Provisional rewards

A check-in needing additional verification may still receive its XP or stamp provisionally.

Until cleared:

• the reward remains visible to the user
• provisional XP does not count toward competitive leaderboards
• it does not establish final prize eligibility

When the check-in is cleared, competitive eligibility may be restored.

Fraud reversals

Where a check-in is ultimately found to be invalid, Ghumify may:

• reverse XP
• remove a stamp
• correct achievements
• correct leaderboard results
• apply appropriate enforcement

A fraud reversal is distinguished from an ordinary economy rebalance or administrative correction.

Fair play

You must not:

• spoof GPS
• falsify a visit
• manipulate device location
• automate check-ins
• use multiple accounts to inflate results
• collude to create false travel evidence
• exploit verification bugs
• interfere with the integrity of competitions

Leaderboards

Eligible users participate automatically in applicable leaderboards.

There is no general opt-out from leaderboard participation in the current V1 design.

For a private account, leaderboard-related public information is limited to approved basic information such as:

• username
• display name
• profile picture
• follower count
• leaderboard rank

A private account’s Passport, stamps, district progress and specific check-in locations are not exposed merely because the user appears on a leaderboard.

Prize eligibility

Leaderboard rank alone does not guarantee a monetary or physical prize.

Where Ghumify offers a real-world prize, separate Official Rules govern eligibility. A check-in under additional verification is not finally prize-eligible until cleared. Suspicion alone is not final disqualification.

Reviews and appeals

You may request review of a disputed check-in or sanction through the route provided by Ghumify.

Serious fraud sanctions and prize disputes must be reviewed by an administrator other than the administrator responsible for the disputed serious decision.

We may withhold precise anti-cheat thresholds where disclosing them would enable manipulation.

Fraud evidence retention

Ordinary raw GPS expires within 30 days.

Where information forms part of an identified investigation, relevant evidence may be retained for longer.

Fraud-related GPS evidence should ordinarily not exceed 90 days from collection without a documented specific reason and review date.

Live location

Live location is off by default.

To share, you must:

• select the intended recipient or recipients
• deliberately start sharing

A sharing session lasts no longer than one hour. After expiry, you must actively start another session.

Foreground only

Ghumify V1 does not use live sharing as closed-app continuous tracking.

Location updates pause or stop when Ghumify is no longer actively running in the foreground and stop when the app is closed.

Stop sharing

You can stop sharing at any time before the one-hour limit.

Blocking a person prevents future access through Ghumify where technically possible.

Adding someone to a group should not silently add them to an existing live-location session.

Recipient responsibility

A recipient may remember or capture a location.

Ghumify cannot erase a screenshot or independent copy that has already left Ghumify.

Do not redistribute someone’s live location without permission.

Last-known location

A location shown through a sharing feature may become stale because of:

• connectivity
• device settings
• GPS availability
• application state
• other technical conditions

Do not assume an old location represents the person’s current position.

Not a rescue service

Do not rely on live location as:

• guaranteed emergency monitoring
• rescue dispatch
• medical response
• police tracking
• continuous safety assurance

Never check in while driving

Do not operate Ghumify to perform a check-in while actively driving. Stop safely before using the feature.

Restricted and dangerous places

Do not:

• trespass
• bypass gates
• enter private property without permission
• enter prohibited zones
• ignore official closures
• take unreasonable risks to earn XP

Ghumify may remove or disable reward eligibility for destinations known to be restricted, private or unreasonably dangerous.

Correcting destinations

Landowners, operators or users may report a destination that is:

• private
• restricted
• dangerous
• incorrectly located
• otherwise unsuitable for check-ins

Changes

Ghumify may update verification methods as abuse patterns and technical capabilities change.

We may change confidential anti-cheat thresholds without publishing operational details that would materially enable fraud.

Material policy changes will be reflected in the latest published version.
